RE: Cordless Drill

If you have a Lowes close by, check there. Just purchased a new 18v cordless DeWault, Model DW959K2, on Sat 11/29/08 for $90.00 and it came with (2) 18v batteries.
And a charger....
Also Lowe's often has a two 18V battery pack for $109 or $119.

RE: Battery Replacement

Gel batteries are not considered a good choice for your RV requirements.
Search and read info on gel battery characteristics and capacities and you will see what we mean. If you still want to spend money get four AGM's.

RE: Opinions please

Moxy, I have a '97 34V and I've towed a 3500lb Honda almost 20K miles over mountains and deserts, no problem. Take your time and enjoy the trip.

Do yourself a BIG favor and replace those tires.... NOW
They will blow and rip your rv to shreds.

RE: 30 amp to 50 amp service

50amp RVs (really 100 amp) make full use of the two 50amp legs. You won't find many (any) 50amp rigs with only one air conditioner.
Why do you think you need a 50amp conversion?

RE: Xantrex inverter/charger hookup.

You are correct; the 12v wiring to the converter is not sufficient to run the inverter. Second, gel batteries are not a good choice for an RV. If you can't afford AGMs then stick with wet cells.
Install the inverter somewhere where you can minimize the 12v cable length. JMHO

RE: Denali N.P. ...is it worth it?

I've visited all the Denali N.P. websites, and sadly to say, my first impression is not good.
You have to stay a minimum number of days and to get around the park you have to get on buses and be shutteled from place to place like cattle!
I just don't want my expectations to exceed reality!!
I agree! They should let me drive my smokin' old pickup truck right in there and feed the bears. What were they thinkin? Geeeze!

RE: Steering adjustment

Not really. Motorhomes are made to not to react to quick wheel movements. This helps in preventing rollovers. You do not want a quick reacting wheel on a Class A.
Show me where this fact is documented. 30 degrees play in the wheel? Absurd.
Have your steering play checked. It can be adjusted or corrected with the proper parts.

RE: Additional House Battery Install Question

Suggestions / Comments:
1. ventilate the basement bay with the new battery.
2. There is no need to parallel the ground cables between batteries if they are both connected to the frame.
3. I assume you mean 6/0 battery cable, not #6.

RE: slow sink drains

Check your vent pipes for obstructions. Also there may be a short vertical pipe in the under sink plumbing that has a vent (vacuum breaker) on top that is acting up. It should just lift off for inspection. It is designed to let air in to aid in draining but block smell (gases) from escaping into the room.

RE: Would you buy this motorhome?

That thing didn't even get hot enough to melt or deform the aluminum wall studs, what makes you guys think it warped the frame?
Looks to me like the fire was confined to the engine area and was extinguished fairly quickly. You can still see the un-burnt bed in the inside photo.
Some one WILL rebuild it, guaranteed.

RE: Charging House Batteries

The quickest charge available while boondocking is with the generator and a good high amperage external charger. An external generator with a 12v output is nearly useless. Your onboard converter/charger is usually not up to the job. Some are, some aren't. Solar is nice as a supplemental.

They install between the booster and the TV. You will need one for each TV unless you always want to watch the same channel on each TV.
I like the Zenith box the best.

In a nutshell, NO. Actually the way you currently have it is probably best, however, you (nor I) can afford the cost of equipment it would take to measure the difference. lou
